Travis Cox Earns USU Athlete
of the Week Honor
Aggie quarterback
threw for 260 yards and three touchdowns in just three quarters
against ASU.
Football
quarterback Travis Cox was named the Utah State Athlete of the
Week for his performance in the Aggies' 49-0 win against Arkansas
State. The weekly award is voted on by a state media panel.
The junior from Mountain Crest High School in Hyrum, Utah, completed
14 of 21 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns without an
interception in just three quarters of action on Saturday. His
14 completions went for an average of 18.6 yards per completion.
Utah State's offense rolled up its most points against a Division
I opponent since 1997 as Utah State's 366 yards of total offense
was its second-best output of the season.
Cox has thrown for 1,741 yards in eight games this season with
a two-to-one touchdown to interception ratio (12 touchdowns
and six interceptions). He has thrown just two interceptions
in the last five games and his current streak of at least one
touchdown pass in eight straight games is the second-longest
such streak at Utah State since 1990 (11 by Jose Fuentes in
2001).
