Volleyball Sweeps Idaho
Saturday Night
Middle blockers Erin Cartwright
and Ingrid Roth each post career numbers
Led
by Erin Cartwright and Ingrid Roth, Utah State's volleyball
team swept Idaho Saturday by final scores of 30-27, 30-19, 30-25.
With the win, USU improved to 10-10 on the season and 4-6 in
the Big West Conference, while Idaho fell to 7-12 overall and
4-6 in league play.
"We were able to take them out of their offensive flow,"
said head coach Burt Fuller. "We had great performances
by our middle blockers in Ingrid Roth and Erin Cartwright. It
was a good team effort and we had a good week of practice that
carried over to tonight."
Roth, a freshman, hit a blistering .714 on a career high 11
kills. Roth's 11 kills marked the second time she has had a
double-digit kills this season, as the first was Oct. 19 against
Cal State Northridge (10).
Cartwright, a junior, led the Aggies with 17 kills on 28 attacks
and posted a career-high .607 hitting percentage. Cartwright
last hit .600 Nov. 3, 2001 versus UC Riverside.
As a team Utah State hit .316 in the match and limited Idaho
to a .182 percentage. The Vandals recorded five more digs than
USU (40 to 35), but the Aggies notched 15 blocks to Idaho's
