Jimoh
and Farner Earn All-America Honors
Football
player and heptathlete recognized for their strength and conditioning
Utah State football player Ade Jimoh and heptathlete Katie Farner
were recently named to the National Strength and Conditioning
Association (NSCA) All-America teams.
Jimoh,
a senior from Woodland, Calif., started three years for the
Aggie football team. In 2002, he recorded 53 total tackles and
1 interception. At 6'2'', 195 pounds, Jimoh excelled in the
weight room, bench pressing 355 pounds and squatting 450 pounds.
"Ade has a special quality about himself," said assistant
USU strength and conditioning coach Paul Arndorfer. "The
harder the workouts are, the harder he trains. He is a great
leader, is well respected, and uses the training to make himself
and his teammates better."
Farner, a senior from Garland, Utah, took first-place in the
heptathlon at the 2002 Big West Championships. This year, she
is the top Aggie heptathlete after the opening meet. She also
excels in conditioning, with a vertical jump of 25 inches and
a power clean of 155 pounds.
"Katie is very driven to keep making improvements in herself,"
said Arndorfer. "One of her best qualities is that she
takes the time to help others be better by giving pointers on
technique and pushing them to work harder."
Athletes are recognized for their athletic accomplishments,
academic and personal achievements, community involvement and
leadership qualities. The NSCA All-America award program is
in its 20th year.
