President
Hall Comments on Conflict in Iraq
Dear Friends,
War
has begun in Iraq. These are uncertain times for our global
community, and these are uncertain times for each of us personally.
War is never easy, and it is never pretty.
Our thoughts are with those serving abroad and with the families
and friends they have left behind. Our thoughts are also with
the citizens of Iraq, who have been denied human rights. May
we see a timely resolution to the trials they face.
We extend our friendship and welcome to our international students.
Let me make it clear, we are not at war with these visitors
to our country. Our students from abroad contribute to diversity
of thought and culture on our campus, helping create students
and scholars who are truly citizens of the world. That is the
essence of what our university experience is about.
Best Wishes,
Kermit L. Hall
