SHEEP NUMBERS ARE GROWING; THE SHEEP SHED
Shearing costs have been on a steady incline for the last several
years. … The St. Croix is a true hair sheep. They were
imported into the U.S. by Dr. W.C. Foote of Utah State University
in 1975. This breed is early maturing and extremely fertile.
Lambing rate varies from 150 to 200 percent, with two lambings

GASES IN OZONE
A Utah State University designed instrument that uses light
to measure gases will take a look from space at ozone and chemicals
in the Earth's atmosphere starting next month. … The Tropospheric
Emission Spectrometer will be launched from Vandenberg, Calif.,
July 8 in NASA's Aura satellite. The sensor sorts light into
infrared colors to measure chemicals passing between the troposphere,

Spend 15 daylight minutes on I-15 or many of Utah's other major
highways, and it's pretty likely you'll pass at least one horse
trailer, probably several. … Rich Stucky's trailer has
its own story. He bought it from a Utah State University student
who bought a raffle ticket at a Pocatello PRCA event and won
the trailer, then sold it to Stucky. Stucky was in Reno once
with the trailer, and a cowboy there recognized it as the Pocatello

TURNING RED: COUNTY COUNCIL APPROVES RECOMMENDATION TO RESTORE
BUILDING TO ORIGINAL LOOK
There's nothing like an original. And after determining the
color of the Historic Courthouse in downtown Logan when it was
built more than 120 years ago, Cache County councilmembers on
Tuesday recommended a red stain to restore the landmark to its
original look. … [County Attorney George Daines] said
that if the builders intended to leave the courthouse an off-yellow,
similar to Old Main at Utah State University, the bricks, which
differ slightly in shade, would have been shuffled to evenly
