Big West Conference Player Of The Week

had career-highs with 20 points and 13 assists against Illinois

State's Mark
Brown was named the Big West Conference Player of the Week
on Monday after leading the men's basketball team to a 66-60
win at Weber State and an 89-84 home win against Illinois State
last week as Utah State improved to 3-0 on the season. Brown
was also named Utah State's Athlete of the Week.
Brown, a senior point guard from Tucson, Ariz., averaged 15.5
points, 7.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game during the week,
while shooting 53.3 percent from the field, 50.0 percent from
three-point range and 87.5 percent from the free throw line.
Against Weber State, Brown scored 11 points, including seven
in the second-half to go along with two assists and two rebounds.
Against Illinois State, Brown recorded career-highs in points
with 20 and assists with 13 to notch the second double-double
of his career. He was 6-9 from the field and 7-8 from the free
throw line against ISU and committed only two turnovers in 33
minutes.
On the season, Brown is averaging 13.0 points and 6.3 assists
per game, while shooting 47.6 percent from the field and 89.5
percent from the free throw line. He ranks first in the Big
West Conference in assists and assist-to-turnover ratio (3.17),
seventh in free throw percentage, and is 12th in scoring.
It is the second time in his career that he has earned Player
of the Week honors from the Big West as he also won the award
last season after being named MVP of the 2002 Hilo Shootout.
