UPR PRESENTS
MOMBO MOTHER’S DAY 2003
LOGAN - “UPR Presents” is a Utah Public Radio
feature (Tuesdays, 8-9 p.m.). It serves as the station’s
vehicle for national, short-run series which otherwise haven’t
been heard on UPR because there have been no programming openings.
In celebration of Mother’s Day this year, UPR will air
“A MOMbo Mother’s Day 2003.” The program will
be heard Tuesday, May 6, at 8 p.m.
MOMbo, Inc. is a non profit organization and national media
resource dedicated to the everyday work of mothering.
Program host is Nanci Olesen, MOMbo founder. This is her fourth
special for Public Radio International (PRI). Her weekly program
“MOMbo, a mom show” aired on the Pacifica Radio
Network for five years, and locally in Minneapolis-St. Paul
for six years before that. She is heard as a commentator on
other public radio programs, and her writing can be found in
national parenting journals.
The Tuesday program includes Olesen’s conversations with
moms of all walks of life, bringing a mother’s perspective
to the air. Featured are “Chicago Tribune” columnist
Michele Weldon, actor and mother Sally Wingert and master fiddler
and singer Linda Breitag. It also includes the MOMbo trio ?
Olesen, Kris Berggren and Julia Jergensen Edelman ? who imagine
and discuss a society in which a mother’s work is valued
and upheld.
Utah Public Radio is heard in Utah on a system of 26 translators
which take its signal statewide. UPR now goes by KUSU (91.5)
and KUSR (89.5) FM.
