TENNIS --

THIS WEEK
April 24-27 - at Big West Conference Championships, Stockton,
Calif.
April 24 - vs. UC Irvine, 10 a.m.
** Utah State men's tennis faces UC Irvine on Thursday, April
24 in Stockton, Calif. in the first round of the Big West Tournament.
USU finished the regular season at 7-12, while UC Irvine finished
with a 11-9 record.
** The Aggies last faced the Anteaters during the 1996 Big
West Tournament. Utah State lost that match-up, 6-0.
** Last year in the Big West Tournament, Utah State lost 6-0
to Pacific in the first round.
**Utah State is 0-2 against teams in the Big West Tournament
this year.
**In doubles, Jason Trask and Brandon Butler lead the Aggies
with a 9-8 record at number two doubles. In singles, freshman
Andrew Marsh boasts the best record at 14-14 this season.

WOMEN'S TENNIS --

THIS WEEK
April 24-27 - at Big West Conference Championships, Sacramento
April 24 - vs. UC Riverside, 1 p.m.
** Utah State's women's tennis faces UC Riverside on Thursday,
April 24 at 1 p.m. in Stockton, Calif. in the first round of
the Big West Tournament. Utah State finished the regular season
at 8-9, while the Highlanders finished with a 9-13 record.
** Last year in the Big West Tournament, Utah State opened
with a 5-2 first round victory against Cal State Fullerton,
before falling to UC Irvine, 5-0 the next day.
** Utah State's eight wins are the most since the 1999-2000
season. USU is just two wins away from its best record ever.
** Utah State finished with a 7-1 record at home this season.
** In doubles, Caroline Pollock and Lindsey Bennion lead the
Aggies with a 9-8 record at number one doubles. In singles,
freshman Jill Smith boasts the best record at 11-6 this season.

** Utah State will compete in the annual Big West Conference
Championships, Monday and Tuesday, April 21-22 at El Dorado
Hills, Calif.
** USU's fivesome includes freshman Cody Huot, who leads the
team with a 75.38 scoring average, freshman Marcus Myers (76.80),
senior Phil Kalivas (77.72), sophomore Chris Combe (79.00),
and junior Kevin Mullen (79.66).
** Huot has been USU's top finisher in each of the six tournaments
he has played this year. He has shot 72 in three of his last
six rounds and has averaged 74.33 strokes in his last two tournaments.
** Since tying for fourth in the 1997 league tournament, USU's
best finish at the Big West Championships in the last five years
was eighth in 1999. Last year the Aggies were ninth in the nine-team
event.
** Three Aggies have Big West Championships experience as Phil
Kalivas tied for 26th, Kevin Mullen tied for 40th and Chris
Combe was 43rd last year.

NEXT WEEK
Off
** Utah State track and field will split to compete in two separate
competitions this week. The multi-eventers will compete at BYU
April 24-26. The rest of the team will compete on April 26 at
the Oregon Invitational.
** Kelli Burton has won the women's shot put and discus in
each or the past two meets.
** Ryan Bruhn has won the men's hammer throw in all three meets
he has entered the event.
** Neil Warr has won three of the four meets he has entered
in the javelin and finished second in the other.
**The Aggies have set four USU records and claimed 26 spots
on the USU top-10 lists this season. USU took advantage of its
only home meet of the season, recording 39 personal records
last week. Overall the Aggies have set 98 personal records this
season.

** Utah is 16-21 on the season. Last week, the Utes swept UNLV
in a doubleheader before being swept by San Diego State on Saturday.
On April 9, the Utes beat the Aggies 6-2 in Salt Lake City.
All-time, USU is 52-78 against Utah.
** Colorado State's games over the weekend were rained out.
The Rams swept Utah in a doubleheader April 11 before splitting
a doubleheader with BYU on April 12. All-time, USU is 24-9 against
the CSU. The teams last met April 27, 2000 in Logan as the Aggies
beat the Rams 4-0.
** Last week UC Santa Barbara picked up two wins against Centenary
College on Tuesday. The Gauchos faced Cal Poly in a weekend
series, winning one and losing two. UCSB is 30-16 on the season
and 5-6 in Big West play. Last season, the Aggies were swept
by the Guachos in Santa Barbara, Calif. Utah State is 30-17
all-time against UCSB.
